Write to Marry Day - Blogswarm for No on 8!

Today is the big Write to Marry Blogswarm sponsored by Mombian.

I am here writing, blogging, swarming and doing all I can to work for justice and equality.

If you go to this link, you can see a listing of all contributed posts. If you write a post, make sure you link back to the Mombian site for maximum impact.

For me it is pretty simple. Anyone who reads this blog knows my feelings and opinions on this subject. I don't censor comments but I will say that while I respect that some folks may feel otherwise, no comments against LGBT marriage are welcome here on this post today.

I have written about this topic numerous times, as you know. And I have hounded everyone for their pennies against No on 8.

We cannot forget that in Florida there is a No on Prop 2 initiative and in Arizona No on Prop 102 under way.

Donate, write, blog - do what you can to promote marriage for all.

And remember that my own dear friends have been heavily involved with LoveHonorCherish in LA. Here are some photos of them from the gala that I wrote about recently. Do you think that I have been replaced by Dana Delaney or Loni Anderson? I sure hope not!!

And you can see my other friend who founded LHC and hosted the gala event. He is shown with LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who contributed $25K that very night.

**This just in - we interrupt this post to bring you the good news that Erika, a UK resident and regular commenter and community member at OCICBW is getting hitched to her partner on Monday. Lots of love to Erika and her partner.** OK, back to our post. (Any good wishes for Erika can be left at that post linked to at the words "getting hitched.")In any event, I leave you with this video, which I found at Paul's blog. Let people be and never fear love!

Sitting here weeping, after seeing that beautiful video. Thank you, dear friend... I edited my piece to note that you were the one who invited me to participate today.

Love, Pax.

ABSOLUTELY. I said this on someone else's blog yesterday, but I often think about how different things would be in this world if people were able to feel comfortable in their own skin w/o hate, judgement, or ridicule.

Even the fact that we are still fighting for this in the year 2008 is sad as hell.

Not even any anti comments done in snark, like how the left coast wants to force everyone to get gay married under the directives of Barack Hussein X, the Manchurian puppet of the Invisible Caliphate? Boo, hiss, hiss.

CDP said...

Ha ha to Randal...and of course, there's my always-present worry that if gay people get married, I will be forced to get divorced, as gay marriage "threatens" traditional marriage.

Seriously, though, beautiful post.

Agree, of course! :)

I don't understand discrimination and judgement. It's just beyond me.

I'm going to be really pissed if George Takei has his marriage screwed up by this measure.

As Pop points out it's sad that we're still having this fight but at least this anti-marriage stuff is defensive in the sense that just a few years ago they were trying to get stuff passed which would make it okay to discriminate against sexuality in employment.

Now they're trying to undo progress. So that's something.

Wait, if Fran can attend a wedding, and not get teh gay cooties - maybe it's not a threat to the fabric of democracy! ;-)

There are twelve ballot propositions in CA this year. Some of the others are also important (No on 4), and if you live in CA, Calitics has a good rundown on them. Still, Prop. 8 is the one that will have a national impact.

I am grateful for all this. I am grateful for like-minded (and like-hearts) who support gay marriage.

Fran,

Thanks for getting the word out about this! I posted my swarm thanks to you!

Fran, thanks for inspiring and challenging us all - once again. It is one of your charisms and a great ministry (sorry folks, but y'all know the religious language intrudes here too). You are a true champion of human rights. I just finished my post. And I didn't even cry as I wrote it (though I got misty).

Huge hugs to you, dear one!

Tears of joy mix with tears of indignation. How so many people can believe that so much love isn't God's will...

I'll never fathom it, and I'll never accept it.

Thanks for these links. I'm going for it.

I posted on this too.

Marriage is big business-- a billion dollar industry in America.
Adding gay marriages would boost the economy.
Why do opponents of gay marriage hate economic boosts?

I think they should call this what it is: "The Anti Mind Your Own Fucking Business" proposition.

Oh, Fran, you are much prettier than either of them. You can't imagine how much I love you today. You totally rock!
