Gartenfische, Street Yoga, Homeless Kids, Life

Gartenfische is one of my favorite blogs. It is stunningly gorgeous to look at and so beautifully written.

Today I went there and found the video you will see below. This video practically stopped by heart. It is about a group of people who teach yoga to homeless kids. These kids will just amaze you. And the power of yoga always amazes me. Her entire post on the topic is worth reading and you can find it right here.

I am the eternal "beginner", but I have been studying yoga off and on for about 5 years. It just may be the biggest life changing thing for me; so many things have happened as a result of me going on my yoga journey.

For the past 8 or 10 months, I really lost my way but recently started going again. And let me tell, you the impact is profound.

So here are these remarkable kids and if you invest the five short minutes needed to watch the video, you will see how yoga has impacted their really challenging lives. And in a most beautiful way. The link for Street Yoga is here. I am very sad to see some really challenging news posted there about the owner's son. Go read please.

Thanks again Gartenfische!

I am sorry to hear about the accident of felix, falling from a tree. I pray that he gets well.

What an amazing thing to do for the homeless and foster care kids in that part of the country, Portland.

Nice caring there and nice story as well. God help our kids in this cold uncaring world.

Linda and Let's Talk-thanks for your comments.

Linda I have loved reading about your retreat and will write more. I thank you and Gartenfische for being a conduit for me to return to my yoga practice.

Let us send good thoughts and wishes to Felix. How scary.

This work of teaching these kids yoga is really amazing to witness.

The saddest part about our country is the amount of homeless we have. The children! They shouldn't have to go without when we have billion of dollars being spent to go to an illegal war.

Those who take the time to help those children...all I can say is that there is a special place in heaven for them!

This video just made me cry...really cry.

Fran, that is a beautiful video. A couple of the teachers at my school started doing yoga with their 2nd and 3rd graders last year. The kids LOVE it. I will be sending this video to them. Myself, I do about 20 minutes of yoga most mornings and have for the last couple of years. I no longer live with the same level of chronic pain in my joints and back. It's a wonderful thing, and now that I think about it, it has helped me go about my daily life with so much more serenity. Thanks for this post.

Glad everyone liked this- thanks again to blog friend Gartenfische for helping us to have open eyes and hearts.

I sent this to my yoga instructor and she too was really moved by it.

Yoga is a beautiful thing! And as ME said, anything that helps homeless kids is a very great thing.
